The View, Colwyn Bay

TWO contrasting colours of Parex mineral render have been specified for a prestigious new homes development in a prime location on the North Wales coast.

The View, a high profile apartments development by Ravenscroft Homes NW Ltd and Blue Bay Homes (Clifftops) Ltd, occupies a stunning location on the cliff tops overlooking Colwyn Bay on the site of a former 1970s hotel.

When specifying render for the external facades, the developers paid particular attention to the coastal location and following consultation with architects and applicator Rendtek Ltd, of Bodorgan, specified Parex Monorex GM mineral render in contrasting White Light (G10) and Basalt Grey (G60).

Parex renders hold LABC Warranty Approval including Zone 4 Very Severe Weather Rating cover for their ability to withstand the effects of the most challenging weather conditions in the UK. This was a key consideration in the choice of render products for the project.

For the 29-apartment complex at The View, a complete system was devised for application to the dense concrete masonry substrate, comprising a key coat of Parex Monogris E,  a weather resistant polymer-modified substrate preparation coat with Parex TV10 reinforcing mesh embedded to provide additional strengthening and crack resistance at stress points around openings which included the window heads and doors.
Finally, the newly applied render was treated with Parex Paraguard "breathable" protective coating to provide a water and stain resistant coating.

Rendtek then applied a top coat of Parex Monorex GM using the colour Light White for the main elevations, and reducing the visual scale of the building by using Basalt Grey for the entrances and stair wells. Some 17,000m² of base coat and top coat render were machine applied to the three-storey structure.
All apartments at The View offer panoramic views over the North Wales coast and are offered with high specification fixtures and fittings.

The apartments are the second phase of development at the site where ten townhouse-style homes were completed in April 2017.
